W: Double-U and Double-V

Hello one and all!

Ever wonder why words like “want” might be pronounced as “vant”?  The letter ‘w’ is called both “double-u” and “double-v”, depending on where in the world you are, and used to also be written as “uu”.

So if you hear someone pronouncing words differently, there may be more to it than just having an accent.  Every person, every country, every culture, and every language has a history that lead it to be what it is today.  Next time you come across something different, take a moment to think about why it might be different.  You may learn something enlightening.

As always, much love!
